Program Description

The Education Committee of the NJHFMA will present a full day training session on Medicare cost report preparation and completion as well as a Medicare "hot" topics update. The Cost Report portion of the day will be geared towards individuals who are new to the industry, have minimal cost reporting experience, and/or want to refresh their knowledge regarding the various issues that involve the Medicare cost report. In addition to reviewing the steps required to complete a Medicare cost report, the presenters will also discuss planned revisions to the proposed CMS-2552-10 worksheets and other cost report changes noted in the FFY 2012 IPPS final rule. A portion of the session will be devoted to an overview of the NJ SHARE cost report form and in particular the schedules that are still pertinent in impacting hospital reimbursement. We have selected presenters for this session who have significant experience in these areas.

The afternoon sessions are geared towards the reimbursement and financial administrators who are budgeting and modeling the impact of Health Reform. Health Reform and Medicare Legal Update topics will include updates and strategies around Accountable Care Organizations, Value Based Purchasing, and Bundled Payments, as well as providing an update to the legal issues being vetted locally and nationally. In addition, participants will be provided a “mock” oral argument presentation of the Health Reform Act and its constitutionality.
