Code of Ethics

I acknowledge that my primary responsibility as a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, regardless of my official title, is to perform the functions of financial management assigned to me to the best of my ability. While performing my duties, I will be guided by the following principles:

  • I will remember that the welfare of the patient is primary.
  • I will recognize the source of the authority and powers delegated to me and will remain always within their scope.
  • I will respect my position of trust and will maintain unquestionable honesty and integrity.
  • I will uphold the dignity of my profession.
  • I will conduct myself in such a manner as to promote the best interest of my fellow workers consistent with the policies of the hospital.
  • I will constantly endeavor to improve my professional knowledge and skills and will seek counsel and guidance from all available sources.
  • I will, when authorized, make myself available to serve when called upon by hospitals and allied professional groups.
  • I will observe the golden rule in the performance of my duties.
  • I will abide by the objectives of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and will loyally support its program.
