The New Jersey Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association will
become the primary source for membership professional development needs by
providing high quality, cost effective, educational, informational and career development
services. In this manner, the Chapter will meet the needs and expectations of all
customers of its available services.
- The Chapter will continue to reach out to local colleges to develop joint ventures
to provide education in healthcare finance and managed care. These programs
will be offered to other HFMA Chapters to assist our fellow Chapters in providing
this valuable educational tool to their members.
- Using member need and expectation surveys, develop and implement innovative,
timely and cost effective educational programs. The Chapter’s objective will be to
provide a minimum of one Annual Institute with two days of programming. We will
also provide four quarterly membership sessions and five or six educational
sessions devoted to specific technical topics. Continue to improve all educational
programming. The Chapter will focus on improved faculty evaluations, program
agendas and support services.
- Develop educational programs in coordination with other organizations, such as
MGMA and TIPAAA.
- To further enhance the educational opportunities of our members and their
dependents, we will continue to offer college level scholarships, should the
budget permit. The Scholarship Committee will review all scholarship applications
and make recommendations to the full Board for approval should the Board elect
to continue the scholarships.
- The Chapter will continue to sponsor the attendance of all Chapter Officers and
Chairpersons of the Publication and Membership Services committees at the
annual Leadership Training Conference conducted by National HFMA. In this way
we will maintain a well-educated, cohesive leadership team that will meet the
expectations of our new members.
- The Chapter will continue to sponsor the attendance of the President and
President-Elect at the annual Fall President’s Meeting to better communicate the
specific needs and requirements of our members to the national board.
- The Chapter will continue to sponsor the attendance of the Past President,
President and President-Elect at the annual Chapter President’s meeting at the
Annual National Institute.
- The Chapter will endeavor to expand its focus from hospital finance to broader
healthcare areas, including managed care, planning, integrated healthcare
delivery systems, primary care delivery systems, continuing care centers, medical
group practice management and alternative delivery systems.
- The Chapter will hold its educational programs at central locations in the state to
meet the needs of its members.
- The Chapter will endeavor to keep our members educated about, and aware of,
their corporate compliance responsibilities in order to protect them and their
organizations.

EDUCATION SESSIONS
Expand educational offerings for our members:
- The Education Committee will review the education schedules, agendas and

develop methods to improve overall attendance at each education session. The
committee will review time, location and format in addition to the subject matter to
determine their effect, if any, on attendance.

Chapter year and estimate target attendance goals for each session.

education session notices and registration of participants.

ANNUAL INSTITUTE
- Improve Annual Institute attendance.
- Study and determine the root causes of attendance fluctuations through review of
membership surveys and program evaluations. The committee should review
changes in membership attendance patterns to understand member decisions
not to attend the Institute or reduction in member attendance from specific
organizations.
- Critically evaluate Institute program content to ensure that the program content
meets the needs of the membership and contains substance.
- Continue to invest in obtaining the highest quality speakers and ensure that
Institute programming truly meets the needs of the New Jersey Chapter
membership.
- Focus on hospital and healthcare system attendance as a core to other
organizations attending.
CHAPTER GROWTH

an increase of approximately two percent in its current membership of 1,030. The
Chapter will strive for continued growth of membership participation in Chapter activities
and committees.

members as wish to join a committee to participate. The Board opened all
committee meetings to the entire membership, with the exception of the Executive
Committee of the Board, Nominating Committee, Auditing Committee, and
Strategic Planning Committee.
- The Membership Committee will determine the percentage of members actively
participating on one or more Chapter committees. The Chapter will utilize this
data as a base line from which member participation growth may be measured.

members discussing committee activities and the benefits of membership.
